Governmental and private schools began implementing educational strategies to reduce the proportion of absence during the remaining period of the second semester “Week before the leave”, and sent circulars to the teachers in which they asked them to implement individual educational plans, create an atmosphere of joy in the school, and implement flexible classes, to avoid boredom and lose the passion of study, while educators affirmed that schools were famous for a “yellow card” in the face The lazy teachers, and the families of the students who are fans of absence, to confront the repeated phenomenon annually, and demanded the approval of a special regulation for attendance and absence that includes educational penalties and financial fines.

In detail, most students are used to considering school working days between holidays, before holidays, and the end of the classroom, a holiday, and an agreement between them is pushed, and a prelude from the teachers that if the number of attendees will not be lessons, there will be no lessons, which encourages students to “collective absence”, to the extent that it has become a continuous habit, which some schools surrendered to.

Schools, through official circulars, demanded the implementation of innovative educational plans, to confront the collective absence of students, during the week before the leave that is supposed to start next Monday, March 17, and prevent individual absence during the current week, and work to avoid boredom and loss To determine the reasons for the absence of students in their ranks.

Schools also directed warnings not to be absent to the parents of the students, which the Emirates Today briefed on, in which she stressed the importance of students ’regularity in attending school until the last day in the second semester, where absent from the school without an acceptable excuse at any time, including before and after the leave, holidays and the end of the week and before the exams, from the second degree violations (medium severity), indicating that it monitors the commitment of the students to the school. And the number of days of their absence, and will not neglect the signing of the penalties stipulated against the violators.

The educators: Ahmed Joudeh, Iman Farraj and Layla Iraqi confirmed to «Emirates Today» that schools have known a “yellow card” in the face of students and their families, in a serious attempt to find radical solutions to this disciplinary problem and raise awareness, and enhance the positive view towards school and study, pointing to the danger of leaving the phenomenon of collective absence during the week before the leave in each semester, without treatment, where it results in a great loss in it Student achievement, the impact of the final educational outputs, and financial and educational waste. Students whose absence rate is 10% or more of the annual academic days are a source of concern about the possibility of completing their academic advice without pitfalls.

Meanwhile, the teachers: Issam Djani, Sanaa Hamed, Ashraf Khalil and Youssef Azab indicated that “there are schools that repeat these plans every year before the end of the classes, holidays and national feast, and in the end most of them are unsuccessful, and some schools in the end surrender to the fait accompli”, pointing out that the matter requires treatment from all aspects and finding a strong deterrent to lazy parents from obligating students to school. Encouragement in a way that students to be absent, and obliging school departments to work hard to confront absence.

They were unanimously agreed on the importance of reviewing the phenomenon of collective absence, and developing an extensive plan and study on its causes and methods of dealing with it, in addition to the approval of a school regulation for attendance and absence, to be binding on the student’s guardian to bring him during the official working days of the school in the absence of a medical excuse, and include educational and financial penalties (the student’s dismissal in the event of unjustified absence is three consecutive or five days, and the status of high financial fees for a return He registered him in school), and what the guardian bears legally if his children are encouraged not to adhere to school work.

The proposals included returning to the semester system, to reduce the number of months of the school year while maintaining the number of school days.

While the Ministry of Education, “in the list of student behavior”, which the Emirates Today reviewed a copy, indicated that absenteeism from the school without an acceptable excuse at any time, including before and after the holidays and holidays and the end of the week and before the exams is considered one of the violations of the second degree “medium severity”, and it is deducted four degrees in the event of absence for the first time, and eight degrees in the event of repetition with the application of the regulations that include the issuance of the alert. The first sin, and the student’s signature on a pledge not to repeat the violation, and on the day after the violation, the student’s guardian is called, signed on an agreement to amend the behavior of his son, and in the event of repetition the student is temporarily stopped by no more than two days, while assigning academic duties within the school, issuing the second written warning against the student and his guardian, and implementing the set of strategies to amend the student’s behavior.

While the Department of Education and Knowledge affirmed, in Abu Dhabi that it monitors the commitment of students to school perpetuations and the number of days of their absence, and cooperates in this framework with the relevant authorities, including the Child Protection Center and the Family Welfare Authority, to ensure students’ commitment to school perfection and obtaining equal education opportunities, in accordance with the provisions of related laws and regulations. Within the framework of this cooperation, the department refers the cases in which students are exceeding 30 days without an excuse, to the Family Welfare Authority to communicate with parents and take the necessary measures, regardless of the school’s procedures and the number of days of absence allowed according to its approved policies.

The psychiatrist, Ahmed Al -Sayed, linked the phenomenon of school absence to the student’s relationship with the school and his feeling of belonging to it, saying: “Whenever the student’s relationship with the school is disturbed, that is one of the reasons leading to the phenomenon of school absence.” And anxiety of the student, such as extreme fear of exams, a sense of persecution and suspicion in others, and it follows that the absent student becomes a less efficient level because he did not attend much lessons.
