Through Bahrain … the road from Europe to Asia this year

The Russian Federation has put in its accounts the “Gulf Railway” project in which Bahrain is participating within the countries of the Cooperation Council as one of the largest land transport projects coming strongly in the region, as Russia announced the launch of the “Five years” effective transport system starting from 2025, which will witness the expansion of the road from Europe to Asia this year through Bahrain.

In May 2025, the Sixteenth International Economic Forum “Russia – the Islamic World: Kazan Forum” 2025 will reveal details about the development of projects and the results achieved until then, as the forum program will include a meeting of ministers of transport in the participating countries and agree on the “North and South Transport Corridor” on developing the logistical transport capabilities of the participating countries.

The Russian project aims to increase the speed and size of the movement of goods throughout the country and abroad, and to allow a smooth transport system, speeding up goods flow to Eurasian countries and abroad, and will include the “Gulf Railway” project to reach the goods coming from the east to the Gulf region, through the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The project includes an increase in the ability of the infrastructure of large international corridors, such as the northern and south transportation corridor, where the focus will be on developing marine ports and internal waterways, and modernizing the border infrastructure.

The officials pointed out that the aim of the project is to reduce the time of the model examination to transport the goods to 10 minutes, which will help increase the volume of traffic on international transportation by 1.5 times, and confirmed that the new international agreements in 2025 will raise the ability, speed and reach new limits.

The corridor is scheduled to link between the north and the south to the transit pathway of Afghanistan by building new railways, to allow the new path to redirect part of the merchandise crossing from Russia and the countries of the Association of Independent Countries through Uzbekistan and Afghanistan with reaching Pakistan and Southeast Asian countries, and the project will increase from transport through Central Asian countries from China to both Pakistan to Europe.

The goods will be transferred in the Arabian Gulf to a number of countries in the region through the “Gulf Railway” that will link Kuwait and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (the cities of Jubail and Dammam), the Kingdom of Bahrain, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates (Abu Dhabi, the cities of Dubai and Fujairah) and the Sultanate of Oman with a railway with a length of 2177 km.

The part between Qatar and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is currently being built, while the work of the part between the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been completed.

The two projects will help accelerate the integration of the international transport corridor between the north and the south in the Near East region and open access to African markets, including the Egypt market.

The joining of the Arab Gulf states will allow the Russian project to join the problem of the reverse loading of trains “and the reduction of transportation costs, for hydrocarbons and many electronic and food commodities.
