Emirates University discusses the role of universities in developing curricula for future jobs

Al Ain, March 13 / WAM / The United Arab Emirates University organized its second Ramadan council under the title “Future Curricula: How can universities prepare students for jobs that have not been created yet?” In the presence of His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Ali Al -Raisi, the university director, and a number of representatives of strategic partners, members of senior management, deans, directors of research centers, directors of departments, academics, researchers and students.
The Acting Director of the University explained at the beginning of the session that the Emirates University is working to build continuous academic awareness of the importance of harmonization between academic curricula, the labor market and scientific developments and to anticipate the future of higher education through the inclusion of educational materials that help the student to gain the skills of the labor market and the comprehension of academic curricula is an ongoing process aimed at raising academic outputs in a way that enhances the university’s position globally.
He pointed to the necessity of adopting the concept of continuous learning and adapting to the requirements of the times, by providing short courses and digital certificates constantly updated to meet the needs of the changing labor market, stressing the importance of developing educational environments that encourage self -learning, and introduce skills -based programs instead of traditional disciplines.
He said that the shift from traditional curricula to more flexible, innovative, and innovative educational models is inevitable, by enhancing critical and creative thinking, and encouraging students to solve problems in innovative ways by integrating design thinking in the curricula and motivating them to ask questions instead of preserving answers.
The Council witnessed in -depth discussions on the role of universities and academic institutions in preparing a generation capable of facing challenges, and to integrate modern technology and artificial intelligence in university curricula through teaching programming concepts and analysis of data and artificial intelligence for all disciplines, as well as the use of virtual reality techniques and enhanced in educational experiences, and providing educational platforms based on adaptive learning.
The importance of enhancing entrepreneurship and innovation was also highlighted by introducing business incubators ’programs within universities, encouraging student projects and linking them to the problems of the real world, as well as providing flexible educational environments that support entrepreneurial thinking.
