The Emirates News Agency “WAM” was accompanied yesterday by the control and inspection team from the Abu Dhabi Authority for Registration and Licensing “Adra” during a field inspection visit to one of the shopping centers in Abu Dhabi with the aim of ensuring the commitment of shops to the prices and offers announced. His Excellency Mohamed Munif Al Mansoori, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Authority for Registration and Licensing “Adra”, said that the authority continues its role in monitoring the implementation of laws, requirements and plans that guarantee consumer protection throughout the year, and this increases during the seasons, especially the blessed month of Ramadan, which is witnessing an increase in consumption rates.

He added that (Abu Dhabi Registration) has prepared an integrated plan that began to implement to ensure the provision of a safe environment for consumers and reduce any negative phenomena during the holy month, indicating that the procedures against the violating commercial facilities have reached 23 procedures to this day.

Al -Mansouri explained that the plan includes making inspection field visits to ensure commitment to prices and providing promotional offers announced by merchants and major sales outlets, and to ensure the extent of their commitment to the conditions set.

He pointed out that the authority intensifies field visits in the holy month of Ramadan due to the increase in the sale rates in order to ensure the commitment of the outlets to the laws, conditions and controls issued by the Ministry of Economy and the Abu Dhabi Registration Authority, including promotional offers and prices.

Al -Mansouri said that the authority, and within its integrated plan for the month of Ramadan, distributes awareness bulletins to the owners of commercial establishments to emphasize the instructions and controls issued, in addition to sending awareness bulletins to consumers to introduce them to the most important of these instructions, controls and requirements, as well as increasing awareness of the rights and duties of the consumer. He pointed out that the authority will make a similar inspection field visits to monitor the preparations of commercial establishments and distribution outlets for the blessed Eid Al -Fitr, which will include special inspection campaigns to inspect livestock markets in addition to implementing inspection campaigns on sewing stores, beauty centers and other commercial facilities that witness a great demand during the holy month.

Al -Mansouri said that most of the economic facilities are launching promotional offers on the occasion of the blessed month of Ramadan, and the rates of discounts and the number of commodities that are offered within the discounts differ from one port to another, which creates a state of competition in the market that is in the interest of consumers as it allows them to obtain the best products at the best prices.

He pointed out that, according to the decision to pricing basic commodities previously issued by the Ministry of Economy, all the main sales outlets are obligated not to raise the prices of basic commodities except after obtaining the approval of the ministry, which in turn study the request to increase the increase in prices accurately, and a number of meetings and awareness campaigns have been held before the blessed month of Ramadan to confirm that the prices of basic commodities are not raised and the extent of their commitment is confirmed through periodic inspection campaigns during the holy month.
