“Dubai Future” launches the fourth edition of “Future Opportunities Report: 50 Global Opportunities”

Dubai Future Foundation launched the fourth annual version of “Report of Future Opportunities: 50 Global Opportunities”, bringing the total number of future opportunities since the launch of the report to 200 opportunities that can generate more than 1,000 implemented ideas in various economic, societal, technological and legal fields.
The report this year also deals with the 10 most major global trends that will positively affect the quality of the life of societies, the development of sectors and economies, and to enhance the performance of governments worldwide during the coming years and decades..
These trends are based on important and varied indicators such as the expansion of communication networks from the sixth generation, the acceleration of artificial intelligence, the development of energy technologies, the increase in dependence on robots and drones.
The 50 opportunities in the report are distributed among 5 main axes that include health, nature and sustainability, societies empowerment, improvement of systems, and future innovations..
The report was prepared in cooperation with the partners of the Dubai Future Foundation and dozens of international experts from various governmental, private, academic and research agencies around the world.
His Excellency Mohammed Abdullah Al -Qarqawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Vice -Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Managing Director of the Dubai Future Foundation, said that this annual report represents an invitation to collective work and enhance effective partnerships to provide the world inspiring visions and innovative solutions that support individuals, institutions and governments in converting future opportunities into concrete achievements.
His Excellency added: “We aim, through presenting these future opportunities and inspiring ideas to support the global anticipation system and open new horizons to design the best possible future, as the vision is united by work, imagination of implementation, and aspiration for reality, to draw together the features of a world that flourishes with joining efforts and creativity of minds, and to continue the process of growth and prosperity at the global level“.
He continued: “We live in an era full of accelerating changes and unprecedented opportunities, and what distinguishes countries that are able to keep pace with the future is their constant readiness to innovate and adapt, and their daring to take real steps that respond to the needs of the present and look forward to tomorrow’s requirements“.
The “Future Opportunities Report: 50 Global Opportunities” displays many important opportunities in the fields of mental and physical health, the latest innovations, discoveries and aspirations to prolong the expected life through the use of science, technology and nature, and the innovation of new therapeutic methods that suit individuals and societies everywhere.
One of the most important health opportunities presented by the report in this field, will we succeed in stopping aging? Will the era of treatment with antibiotics end soon? Is it possible to analyze patient breathing to diagnose and treat diseases? Can we deliver the medicine to the targeted cells and not others inside the body and without complications? Is it possible to benefit from sports medicine in improving public health policies?.
The report aims through the opportunities in the axis of nature and sustainability to discuss new ideas that contribute to reducing environmental risks to the lowest extent possible, and enhances the benefit of nature’s ability to restore itself, and supports natural environmental systems and the citizen of living organisms, in a way that contributes to the stability of the planet and makes it a healthy environment for everyone.
The report raised many important questions related to this axis, including: How does technology help us enjoy and interconnect with nature more? How can we enhance the biological diversity in city gardens? How do we benefit from the wealth that is wasted in fishing waste? Will we succeed in replacing lithium batteries with safer and sustainable options? What if we were able to remove pollutants from ocean water and lakes using ultrasound? And what if the depths of the seas become a source of clean energy enough for the movement of ships?.
The “future opportunities report: 50 global opportunities” seek through a set of future opportunities to enable societies by providing appropriate solutions for their priority needs, improving the systems that depend on them, protecting them from the risks that may weaken them in the face of crises, and support individual and group capabilities in order to achieve more growth and development.
Among the most prominent future opportunities that the report tried to answer within this axis: Will we have a robot’s work colleagues and trust them? When will we start by adopting innovative methods to measure the quality of human life? Will desalination become easier, faster and cleaner? Can electronic games be useful for health? Is it possible to create a global investment fund to create solutions to humanitarian challenges in the long run?.
