Sharjah enhances the bridges of global cultural communication at the London Book Fair 2025

Sharjah, March 17 / WAM / The Sharjah Book Authority concluded its participation in the 51st edition of the London International Book Fair, which was held at the London Olympia Center with the participation of a group of publishers, writers and professionals in the publishing sector from all over the world, as it continued, through its presence in the prominent cultural event, to establish the position of Sharjah in the global cultural scene.

The authority shed light on the exhibition on the publishing industry in the Emirates and the Arab region, where it introduced the international audiences with Emirati and Arab writers and creators in a way that contributes to promoting cultural communication, supporting the global publishing industry and consolidating cultural relations between Sharjah and the global literary community.

His Excellency Ahmed bin Rakad Al -Amiri, CEO of the Sharjah Book Authority, said that the presence of Sharjah at the London International Book Fair comes on the list of its annual participation agenda for what it represents as one of the largest global cultural demonstrations that reflects the literary scene and global publishing and to introduce its pioneering achievements in the cultural sector, which was established through the Sharjah International Book Fair, which for four years in a row list of the largest book exhibitions in the world in buying and selling Publishing rights to confirm the pivotal role the emirate plays in supporting the global publishing movement and enhancing cultural exchange between East and West.

Al -Amiri added, under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, the emirate believes that the book is not just a warehouse of knowledge to the extent that it is pregnant with the civilizations of peoples, a bridge of cultural communication and a tool to consolidate peace and enhance the rapprochement between nations and in line with this vision. It aims to shed light on Emirati cognitive production and highlight the experience of the writer and local publisher, in addition to providing cultural initiatives that made Sharjah a role model in the Arab world and the destination of thinkers, intellectuals and publishing industry leaders in the world.

The Sharjah Pavilion received visitors to the exhibition and those interested in the Arabic book, as it presented a selection of translated publications into English. He also organized meetings that brought together Emirati and international publishers to explore the prospects for joint cooperation. The Sharjah Literary Rights Agency participated in providing professional consultations on book marketing mechanisms, protecting copyright and highlighting its high -level services.

The commission organized 40 meetings with a group of international publishers in preparation for the International Distributor Conference, during which she met representatives of “Anjram”, “Atlantic Balcheng”, “Balcheng, Wikley”, “Times Singapore”, “Amazon MGM Studios”, “Harbriculins” and “Balsheke Perseptec” and Benguan Random Hawi “,” McMilalan “,” Hachtit “,” Oxfor UNIFRESTI Press “,” John Marshall Media “,” Source Box “and other leading publishing houses.

The meetings with the international publishers included the introduction of the Sharjah Fund for the Publishing of Publishing “Ashb” and its various paths that include the provision of innovative training programs to support publishers in a way that enhances the position of Sharjah, a leading platform for the publishing industry in the Arab world.

The participation of Sharjah at the London International Book Fair 2025 witnessed the definition of the International Prize for Arab Child Literature, which was previously known as the Etisalat Prize for Child Literature, which is held in partnership between the UAE Books for Advisors and End, within the framework of a strategy to enhance the presence of Arab literature for children and adolescents globally.
