UAE and the United States of America .. A partnership that seeks development and promoting global stability

The strategic partnership between the United Arab Emirates and the United States of America is based on more than 5 decades of coordination and cooperation in various fields in a way that enhances development and prosperity in both friendly countries.

The official visit by His Highness Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, the National Security Adviser, comes to the United States of America as part of continuing the approach to enhancing bridges of communication and dialogue to serve the common interests of the two friendly countries and peoples.

The UAE is one of the most prominent partners of the United States of America in the region and the world, as the two countries are committed to cooperation and continuous endeavor to enhance regional and global security, achieve economic prosperity, and to face challenges in various parts of the world.

The two countries have succeeded in laying solid foundations for long -term cooperation in the economic field, and establishing innovative partnerships in new fields, including artificial intelligence, food security, clean energy, space exploration, and other priority areas in science, education and culture.

The two countries are linked to distinct economic and investment relations, as the volume of bilateral trade (non -oil) is approaching an amount of 40 billion dollars, while the volume of commodity trade increased by 9.47%, to reach 34.43 billion dollars (126.46 billion dirhams), during the year 2024, according to the latest data issued by the US Department of Trade, compared to 31.45 billion dollars (115.51 billion dirhams) in 2023.

The UAE investments in the United States of America reached about $ 3.7 billion between 2018 and 2023, while the investments of the United States of America in the UAE amounted to about $ 9.5 billion during the same time.

The two countries are working to enhance mutual investments in the field of energy, as the UAE has important investments in the American energy market with more than 70 billion dollars so far through ADNOC, Source and XRG.

The main sectors of the UAE investments in the United States of America include renewable energy, communications, energy, real estate, software services, in addition to information technology.

Last year witnessed the signing of many partnership and investment agreements between the two countries, in the technological and artificial intelligence field. In April 2024, G42 announced the pioneering holding company in the field of artificial intelligence technology in the UAE, and Microsoft for a strategic investment of $ 1.5 billion from Microsoft in G42.

In June 2024, World Wide Technology, a leading technology integration company based in the United States of America, signed a strategic agreement with NXT Global, to create and develop the first artificial intelligence center in Masdar City in the Emirates.

The G42 and Microsoft Group announced last February the launch of the “responsible artificial intelligence institution” – the first of its kind in the Middle East, and aims to enhance the standards of responsible artificial intelligence and consolidate best practices in the Middle East and South South.

September 2024 witnessed the announcement of a framework for cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence between the UAE and the United States of America, as the two sides emphasized their intention to cooperate in many areas, the most important of which are: strengthening safe and reliable artificial intelligence and supporting moral research and development for it, and building organizational frameworks to enhance innovation in the field of artificial intelligence, in addition to expanding and deepening cooperation in the field of protecting artificial intelligence and cybersecurity and developing talents in this field, alongside Supporting clean energy for the requirements of artificial intelligence systems and enhancing artificial intelligence for sustainable development in developing countries.

The UAE’s launch of the hope probe in 2021 led to the strengthening of scientific cooperation in the field of space exploration between the UAE and the United States, which was evident through the new UAE mission to the asteroid belt in cooperation with the University of Colorado Boldar.

In the same context, the UAE plays a major role in the NASA, S Lunar Gateway project, as it will develop a unit dedicated to the closure of air for the crew and scientists, as it will send the first Emirati astronaut to the moon’s orbit, according to the initiative announced last June, and the unit that is necessary for the safety of pioneers and task operations by 2030 is scheduled to be launched.

Climate work is one of the most important aspects of fruitful cooperation between the two countries, and this is highlighted through the partnership in order to accelerate the clean energy, which aims to mobilize $ 100 billion to produce 100 GB of clean energy by 2035.

The UAE is participating in the leadership of the AIM FOR Climate initiative with the United States of America, which includes more than 50 countries and 500 partners, to enhance sustainable agriculture, in addition to this Masdar Company in 11 clean energy projects in the United States of America, including the Solar Energy and Big Beau batteries near Los Angeles.
