Guterres calls for giving peace an opportunity

UN Secretary -General Antonio Guterres warned on Friday that the expansion of the Israeli -Iranian conflict may ignite an irreplaceable war, and called on both parties to the conflict and other potential parties to “give peace an opportunity.”

Guterres made these comments before the United Nations Security Council while the European Union’s foreign ministers met their Iranian counterpart today in an attempt to test the extent of Tehran’s readiness to negotiate a new nuclear agreement, despite the small possibility of Israel stopping its attacks soon.
