For terrorism and corruption, the Turkish Public Prosecution requests the imprisonment of the mayor of Istanbul

Today, the Turkish Public Prosecution asked the court to arrest the seized mayor of Istanbul, Akram Imamoglu on terrorism and corruption charges.

The Turkish newspaper “Hurriyet” said: “Akram, Imamoglu, testified in the office of the Prosecutor as part of the investigation of terrorism and then the investigation of corruption.”

She added: “The Prosecutor’s Office referred him to the court with a request to arrest him within the scope of investigations into corruption and terrorism.”

On Saturday, Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerli Kaya announced the arrest of 343 suspects who participated in demonstrations in various Turkish cities, in protest against the arrest of Imamoglu on charges of “corruption and support for terrorism.”

“The security authorities arrested 343 suspects who participated in the demonstrations organized in Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Adana, Antalya, and you are the Castle of Askishihahir and Quniya Edirne, in protest against the investigations conducted by the Public Prosecution against the Greater Istanbul municipality.”

On Friday, hundreds of people went out in demonstrations all over Türkiye, which were called by the opposition Republican People’s Party to protest the arrest of 106 people, including the mayor of the Greater Istanbul, Akram Imamoglu.
