Al -Wathba Dates Festival concludes its second session competitions and crowns the winners

Abu Dhabi, March 23 / WAM / The Al -Wathba Dates Festival concluded, yesterday evening, its second session, which was held organized by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, during the period from January 10 to March 22, 2025, within the activities of the Sheikh Zayed Festival in the Al -Wathba area in Abu Dhabi.
The festival, which spanned 72 days, witnessed the organization of 12 competitions for the wrapping of dates “additions, and without additions” for six varieties of dates “salvation, imposition, Dabas, Boumaan, Shishi and Zamali”, which were allocated 120 awards with a total value of more than two million dirhams.
The competitions recorded the participation of 310 products and factories for dates in the country, who provided more than 3,100 kg of luxury dates through innovative and sustainable packages for wrapping dates according to high -quality standards and specifications.
The festival also presented more than 200 varieties of dates and associated industries across 40 stores in which 172 products and dates were alternated to the stores within 72 days, as the festival deliberately diversified the posts and modernized the participating stores every 10 days, and the exhibits were varied to include the luxury Emirati dates of all kinds, and many other products that are made using dates and parts of palm trees.
Yesterday, the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority honored the sponsoring and supportive bodies that contributed to the success of the activities and competitions of the Al -Wathba Festival for Dates in its second session, which included the strategic partner “Sheikh Zayed Festival” and the festival supporter “Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety”
The winners of the first three places in all dates packaging competitions also culminated in “additions, without additions”, amid a wide presence of farmers, producers and dates manufacturers in the country, representatives of supporters and participants in the dates stores at the festival.
Obaid Khalfan Al Mazrouei, the executive director of the Acting Festival and Events Sector at the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, appreciated the great support that the wise leadership attaches to festivals and events that enhance heritage and achieve the goals of the agricultural sector sustainability, and highlight the historical position of the palm tree in the Emirati society, thanking the supportive and sponsoring bodies, participants in competitions, dates shops and festival visitors.
The festival seeks to enhance awareness of the importance of the palm tree in order to achieve the vision of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God bless him, regarding the sustainability of palm cultivation and encouraging the production and marketing of dates and the related industries, as well as supporting projects to enhance food security to ensure its sustainability.
The festival is a specialized platform in marketing Emirati and international dates and their products, in addition to preserving the agricultural heritage in the country, making way for the exchange of experiences between farmers from different countries of the world regarding modern agriculture methods, how to take care of the palm tree, and introduce the authentic Emirati heritage.
