Adel Shakeri, Director of Planning and Business Development Department at the Public Transportation Corporation at the Roads and Transport Authority, confirmed that the request for a service on a request is characterized by smooth and speed and represents one of the best mass transition solutions in Dubai, which is witnessing an accelerated population growth that constitutes challenges in working to reduce traffic congestion and enhance the smooth flow of traffic, especially since this service is also characterized by its cost The reasonable, which amounts to (5) dirhams per person per trip.

Shaker said: “The authority expressed the scope of this service to 10 vital areas in the emirate in order to meet the increasing demand for this service, after it was previously operated in vital areas such as (Al -Barsha, Dubai Silicon Oasis, Nahda, and recently in the Business Gulf region and the downtown Dubai region (Down Town). Providing movement between the two adjacent regions. ”

Shakeri explained that the initiative (a bus on demand) is based on the smart response system for the request of passengers to the service based on the idea of ​​linking some areas to small public buses from their sites, through the smart application that allows customers to determine their course from the starting point to the arrival point, and pay the transportation tariffs, stressing that the service provides an innovative solution to the first and last mile trips between the customer’s residence and the nearest station for mass transportation.


Before the actual operation of the service, the authority conducted a field scan before a number of criteria, including the population categories used for service, vehicle possessing, transportation options, the nearest stations and positions The reasonable, and the authority also used the best global practices in this field, such as Spain, Germany, the United States and Finland. It is worth noting that the (demand bus) service is provided through the smart application (Dubai Bus on Demand) available in Apple Store and Google Play Store on smartphones and devices, and covers buses that accommodate 13 passengers through tracks inside geographical areas, and bus drivers enjoy the ability to communicate with service students, through the application to reach the closest point of their whereabouts.
