Thousands of books to enhance knowledge in health facilities within the initiative "A world reads"

Dubai, March 28 / WAM / The Emirates Health Services Corporation, represented by the Mental Health Department, cooperates with the Mohammed bin Rashid Library and its initiative “A World Read”, in enriching its libraries with more than 5 thousand books in both Arabic and English in many fields and specialties, in conjunction with the national month of reading, and in the context of its vision of establishing libraries in the internal departments of hospitals.
This step comes from the Foundation’s keenness to enhance cultural and knowledge awareness in its therapeutic environment, in line with the goals of the initiative in spreading a culture of reading and enhancing knowledge among the various groups of society, including patients in the institution’s facilities.
The Foundation received more than 5 thousand diversified books from the Mohammed bin Rashid Library that includes educational and developmental publications in both Arabic and English, during an event held at Al -Amal Mental Health Hospital, in the presence of Dr. Nour Al -Muhairi, Director of the Department of Mental Health at the Foundation, and Dr. Ammar Al -Banna, Director of Al -Amal Hospital for Mental Health, and Ali Juma Al -Tamimi, Director of Library Department at the Mohammed bin Rashid Library, and representatives of the Mohammed bin Rashid Library.
Dr. Nour Al -Muhairi stressed that participation in the “World Reads” initiative reflects the institution’s belief in the importance of culture and knowledge in improving the quality of life, noting that enriching hospitals in books contributes to improving the mental health of patients, and provides them with a window on the outside world, and an opportunity to acquire knowledge and self -development, which enhances their therapeutic and rehabilitation path.
Ali Juma Al -Tamimi pointed to the keenness of the Mohammed bin Rashid Library to consolidate the culture of reading and knowledge among the various groups of society, especially young people, as the cornerstone of building society and developing its intellectual capabilities, based on its belief that reading is a major tool in refining minds, stimulating creativity, and enhancing the spirit of belonging and national responsibility.
He added that the various initiatives of the Mohammed bin Rashid Library, including “a world that reads”, reflects the keenness to enable all groups of society to reach various cognitive sources that enrich their thought and expand their horizons, and in line with its vision to support national initiatives, including the “Reading Month” and “National Reading Strategy” initiative that aims to raise the percentage of the reading habit to 80 % between students and 50 % among adults in general.
The initiative includes the distribution of books to a number of institution facilities, and the establishment of libraries in the internal departments in hospitals, in a way that enhances educational and therapeutic programs, and opens the way for patients and their companions to take advantage of books as a source of knowledge and psychological support during the treatment period, as the “World Read” initiative aims to encourage reading by providing various cognitive sources for individuals everywhere, in a way that contributes to promoting learning, developing society and receiving all Its components.
This cooperation comes within the strategy of the Emirates Health Services Corporation, to enhance partnership with various local bodies to support national cognitive and cultural initiatives, in line with the targets of the National Month of Reading, “Emirates Read 2025” and the vision of “Emirates Centenary 2071” aimed at building an advanced knowledge society.
