Syria .. Allowing chemical weapons inspectors to enter sites from the Assad era

Sources said, today, that the business drainage authorities in Syria accompanied chemical weapons inspectors to production and storage sites that no one had ever visited before, returning to the era of Bashar al -Assad, which he was overthrown three months ago.
A team from the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons visited Syria between 12 and 21 March to prepare for the task of determining and destroying the Assad regime’s inventory sites. The inspectors visited five sites, some of which were looted or bombed.
The sources said that among them are sites that the Assad government did not declare to the organization. The sources that spoke, provided that its identity was not disclosed, that the team obtained detailed documents and information about the Assad program for chemical weapons.
“The Syrian business draining authorities provided all possible support and cooperation during a short notice,” the agency said in a summary of the visit published on the Internet. She added that their security companions were their companions and “managed to reach the sites and people without restrictions.” No additional details were announced.
This cooperation indicates a significant improvement in relations compared to the past contract when Syrian officials during the Assad era were obstructing the organization’s inspectors.
A diplomatic source familiar with the issue said that the visit shows that the Syrian interim authorities fulfill their promise to work with the international community to destroy the chemical weapons of Assad.
A Reuters report on Tuesday stated that the destruction of any remaining chemical weapons was on the list of items that the United States stipulated in Syria if Damascus wanted to have the mitigation of sanctions.
Three investigations concluded that the Syrian government forces during the Assad era used sarin nerve gas and chlorine drums during the civil war, killing and wounding thousands. The three investigations took place through a joint mechanism of the United Nations, the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, the investigation team and the identification of the identity of the Organization of Chemical Weapons, and the United Nations investigation into war crimes.
Experts in the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons believe that there are still unannounced stocks and want to visit more than 100 sites that Assad’s forces have been treasured or produced chemical weapons. The Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons is preparing to open a field office in Syria, where the escalation of violence has recently increased security concerns.
