The UAE reviews its efforts to support the transformation of energy during the G20 meetings in South Africa

Abu Dhabi, August 6 / WAM / The UAE represented by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure participated in the third meeting of the transformation group in the energy sector within the Group of Twenty “G20 etwg”, which was held in the Republic of South Africa.

Participation comes within the framework of the efforts of the UAE International to support the transformation of energy, implement the outputs of the “historic Emirates Agreement” issued by the Conference of the Parties “COP28” and enhance the state’s commitment to achieving climate neutrality by 2050.
During the meetings, the Ministry reviewed the most prominent achievements of the UAE in accelerating the transformation in the energy sector, enhancing energy efficiency, and developing a balanced mix of clean and safe sources, which contributes to ensuring energy security and achieving sustainable development.
She also participated in the joint side session between the Clean Energy Ministerial Initiative “CEM” and the International Atomic Energy Agency, under the title “Nuclear Energy for Africa”, where the UAE’s leading experience in developing a peaceful and safe program for nuclear energy was highlighted as a role model in supporting developing countries and enabling the paths of fair transformation in the energy sector.
In the energy efficiency session, the Ministry highlighted national initiatives and legislations that aim to double the rates of energy efficiency improvement, in line with the goals of the global energy efficiency alliance launched by the UAE.
In confirmation of its commitment to push global efforts towards a more sustainable future, the UAE launched the global energy efficiency alliance, with the aim of accelerating the pace of adoption of energy efficiency solutions at the international level, through exchanging best practices, enhancing cooperation between the governmental and private sectors, and supporting countries in developing effective policies and legislation to improve consumption efficiency.
