Today, Wednesday, Mexico is awaiting the announcement of Trump customs duties

Mexican President Claudia Shinbum confirmed that her country does not intend to follow the “eye and age” strategy towards the United States, on the eve of new customs duties that its American counterpart, Donald Trump, intends to impose.

Like all other trading partners of the United States, Mexico is locked in its breath to find out what the new customs recognition will be Trump to impose on Wednesday.

Trump is expected to announce the imposition of “mutual” customs duties today, Wednesday, that is, the day before the severity of an additional fee of 25% on cars made outside the country, and the spare parts used in the vehicles being assembled in the United States.

Dialogue should continue

“We do not believe in the principle of eye and age at age, because it always leads to a bad situation,” Shinbom said at a press conference on Tuesday.

“Certainly, measures are taken in Mexico because there are measures being taken on the other side, but the dialogue must continue,” she added.

Mexico promised a “comprehensive response” to the American punitive customs duties, while remaining open to the dialogue.
Shenbum indicated that her government will wait for the details of Trump’s advertisement on Wednesday to respond appropriately.

She said, “No country in the world knows exactly what will be announced on April 2,” she said.

Mexico car assembly factories

The Mexican economy is one of the most vulnerable economies for Trump’s customs administration fees due to close trade relations between the two countries.

Mskik exports more than 80% of its goods to the United States, including about 3 million vehicles annually.

Mexico includes a large number of foreign cars assembly factories owned by companies such as Ford, GM Motors, BMW, Volkswagen and Toyota.
