To solve the issue of Ukraine, Putin’s envoy announces meetings in Washington

The Special Envoy of Russian President Vladimir Putin, concerned with economic affairs, Kirill Dmitriev, announced a meeting today, Thursday, in Washington with representatives of the American administration, in light of the rapprochement between Russia and the United States, and within the framework of efforts to resolve the issue of Ukraine.

This is the first visit of a senior Russian official to Washington since the outbreak of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

It also comes the day after the validity of high customs duties imposed by the American administration on several countries, not among them Russia, which is originally targeted by US sanctions since its invasion of Ukraine, which is no longer officially a commercial partner for Washington.

Reviving bilateral relations

“On April 2 and 3, the holdings of Washington with representatives of the administration of President Donald Trump,” the Russian special envoy Kirill Dmitriev wrote on the Telegram application. Without further details.

The White House has not yet confirmed the visit of Dmitriev.

According to the “CNN” channel, the Russian envoy is expected to meet with the American delegate Steve Witkev to discuss ways to revive the bilateral relations that deteriorate severely after years of tensions, which amounted to 2022, with Russia launched its financial and military -backed Ukraine from the United States.

Explicit conversation

Dmitriev, who heads the Russian sovereign investment fund, pointed out that the dialogue between Moscow and Washington is essential to the whole world, while acknowledging that his revival is not easy.

But he said that every session, every explicit conversation allows us to progress.
Sergey Ryabkov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs in Russia, described the dialogue that has been going on for several weeks with the United States on issues that raise sensitivities in the dynamic, pointing to some progress, but without violations yet.
