After 3 months, human remains raised the number of Los Angeles forest fires
About 3 months after the destruction of thousands of homes due to Los Angeles forest fires, officials said that the number of two fires killed to 30 people, after finding human remains.
The Medical Examination Office said in a statement that a team announced this yesterday, Wednesday, after a report was received on the finding of possible human remains in a burning property in Altadina, inside the area of Eiton.
The statement said that the investigation concluded that the remains are human, bringing the total death of the fire to 18 people.
And 12 people died in a fire in Palceds.
Determine the charred parts
To determine the charred parts, the medical examination office said it compares toothpicks and DNA, reviews health records and uses radiology to search for artificial limbs or medical devices.
The office also works with law enforcement authorities to collect information about people suspected of missing persons.
The statement said: “Due to the complexity of these methods and the research process, it may take a long time to confirm the identity of the deceased in these types of cases.”
The causes of the two fires
The two fires broke out during violent winds on January 7, and caused the destruction of about 17 thousand buildings, including homes, schools, companies and places of worship.
The causes of the two fires are still under investigation.
