Sudan: The United Nations is concerned about civilians fleeing violence in the Blue Nile State

Local authorities estimate that four thousand displaced people from Olu and other towns in the Bao region are heading towards the city of Damazin, the state capital, which is about 230 km. UN spokesman Stephen Dujarric said that about 600 people have arrived in the city so far, and that they are residing in a site for the displaced.
During his daily press conference, Mr. Dujarik said that the continued insecurity and bureaucratic restrictions prevented the arrival of the United Nations humanitarian partners to the affected areas. He added: “We again call for a safe and sustainable human access without obstacle to all those in need.”
Dujarik also reported the arrival of new arrival from southern Sudan to other parts of the Blue Nile State in recent weeks. “This indicates the increasing complexity of the situation in the region.”
