Al -Qassim Health Gathering explained that the medical team at King Saud Hospital in Unayzah Governorate succeeded in saving the eye of a 5 -year -old child, who was severely injured as a result of a “fireworks” fire ejaculation in the face, while celebrating the blessed Eid Al -Fitr.

The assembly indicated that the child arrived at the emergency department on the first day of the holiday while he was suffering from a direct injury in his right eye, as the face wash was immediately performed and comprehensive preliminary examinations, which showed his need for urgent surgical intervention, and based on medical and radiological examinations, the medical team directed the child to quickly transfer the child to the operating room to save the eye from the injury.

Wounds and burns

During the operation, the surgical team revealed the presence of a wound in the right upper eyelid, first -class burns, severe swelling, and a full hanging of the eyelid, in addition to the remains of explosive materials inside the eye, the lack of irrigation of the corneal ring, and a complete scraping of its surface, with swelling in the conjunctiva, a thorough surgical cleaning was performed, and all the explosive remains were removed, with a smooth adhesive lens to protect the eye.

The assembly emphasized that the process was successful, and the rapid medical intervention contributed to the demise of the swelling and the return of the vision to its normal position, while a careful treatment plan was developed to review the child’s condition in the outpatient clinics to complete his treatment.

Al -Qassim’s health gathering stressed the importance of educating parents to their children about the danger of children’s use of fireworks, because of the serious risks to their health and safety, especially in the seasons of the celebrations, calling on everyone to completely refrain from allowing children to use these dangerous substances that may leave permanent effects or cause physical disabilities that cannot be condemned.
