China records a slight decline in inflation

BEIJING, on April 10/ WAM/ The Chinese National Statistics Authority announced today that the consumer price index “CPI”, which is the main measure of the inflation rate, recorded a slight annual decrease of 0.1% during the month of March 2025, compared to a decrease of 0.7% in February.

The Central China channel reported that this relative improvement is due to the positive impact of government policies approved to enhance consumption and stimulate economic growth.

According to the data, prices in urban areas fell by 0.1%, and in rural areas by 0.3%, in contrast, the “basic consumer prices”, which excludes food and energy prices, recorded 0.5% during last March, after it had recorded a slight decline of 0.1% in February 2025.

The data also showed a decrease in food prices by 1.4% on an annual basis, compared to an increase of 0.2% in non -food commodity prices, a similar increase by 0.4% in both services prices, and the decline in consumer goods prices by 0.4%.

The average change in the index during the period from January to March 2025 a decrease of 0.1% compared to the same period last year, while the index decreased on a monthly basis by 0.4% last March.
