Dutch police confiscate 145 kg of hashish after a boat broke down

Dutch police announced that they had confiscated 145 kilograms of hashish and arrested a man after his rapid boat was disrupted in the North Sea.
The police said, today, Sunday, that the coast guard noticed the boat, drifting about 70 kilometers from the coast yesterday evening, and pulled it to the port of Sakifiningen in the city of The Hague.
During the boat inspection, the police found 13 bags containing 145 kilograms of hashish, estimated at 1.5 million euros (1.7 million dollars).
The boat was driven by a 49 -year -old man from Amsterdam. The police are investigating the source of these drugs, which are likely to have been transferred from a larger cargo ship to the fast boat in a process known as “projection”, a method that drug smugglers use to avoid inspections in the major ports.
This method often leads to the loss of shipments in the sea or drifting to the beaches.
Hundreds of kilograms of drugs were found on the Dutch beaches in November and December last year.
