Transferring the transportation sector in the Kingdom
During his talk to Al -Youm, a specialist in Badr Al -Ghamdi stressed that the Kingdom is witnessing a strategic shift in the transport sector, which goes beyond the transformation to electric vehicles to establish an integrated national model based on technology, sustainability, and industrial sovereignty, noting that this trend comes within the Kingdom’s 2030 vision and is supported by effective coordination between government agencies and the private sector.
He indicated that the regulatory authorities play a pivotal role in this transformation, as the Ministry of Energy has placed the operating frameworks of electric charging stations, while the Transport Authority is working to integrate electric vehicles into the public transport system.
He added that the Saudi Standards and Metrology Authority “SASO” contributes to setting technical standards that guarantee quality and safety, while the Ministry of Industry continues to support resettlement efforts and build advanced manufacturing infrastructure.
The development of the industrial sector
He pointed out that the industrial sector is witnessing qualitative leaps, as Sir is developing the first national electrical vehicle, while Lucid and Hyundai began establishing advanced factories in King Abdullah Economic City.
BYD also continues its expansion in the Saudi market by providing clean transportation solutions, supported by its global technical expertise.
He pointed out that the supportive infrastructure is witnessing a remarkable development, as the company “Evic” publishes electric charges on the roads and inside the cities, which contributes to facilitating the adoption of electric vehicles more broadly.
He also stressed the importance of the role played by the “Nava” academy in rehabilitating and operating national competencies in this vital sector.
Al -Ghamdi concluded his speech by noting that the entry of “Tesla” the Saudi market represents a milestone, which reflects the Kingdom’s readiness to be a pioneering regional center in the future of smart transport and sustainable industry.
