Launching the national framework for patient safety standards as a comprehensive national reference

The Saudi Center for Patient Safety launched “Patient Safety Standards”, a comprehensive national framework that is the first of its kind in the Kingdom, and aims to improve health care quality, and enhance patient safety concepts and practices in various health facilities. This national project aims to enhance excellence in patient safety and raise the quality and efficiency of health care services, as well as support national efforts in achieving the global action plan for patient safety.

The project provides a reliable normative tool that enables health facilities to evaluate and systematically develop them, in order to enhance the safe care environment and contribute to reducing the damage that can be avoided.

The criteria are expected to have a qualitative impact on unifying safe practices, improving the health care environment, in line with the Kingdom’s 2030 vision targets, by building a safer and more efficient healthy system, enabling healthy cadres and patients both to adopt best practices and reduce avoiding damage.

The Director General of the Saudi Patient Center for Patient Safety, Dr. Ali bin Talaa Asiri, explained that the launch of the national standards for patient safety represents a pivotal step towards consolidating a safe and integrated healthy environment, which enhances patients’ confidence and contributes to improving the results of health care, stressing the importance of the framework in enabling caregivers to apply evidence practices, which make a real difference in people’s lives.
