Donald Trump and tariffs.. Why does he cling to the option of escalation?

After the Supreme Court declared the US President’s declaration of trade war against US trading partners illegal, Trump pledged to escalate and impose higher tariffs.
Despite the objection of some Republicans, Trump believes that the tariffs will lead to an economic boom, even if consumers bear the cost.
Challenging Trump poses several risks, the most important of which are:
– Serious political risks for him and his party.
-Creates uncertainty about an unstable economy.
– Opens a new loophole for Democratic attacks.
According to a CNN report, Trump will continue to impose tariffs for two main reasons:
First: Trump strongly believes in tariffs and ignores evidence that they harm consumers, and sees the effects of globalization on industrial areas as evidence that supports his protectionist positions that he has adopted since the 1980s.
Second: For Trump, customs duties are a means to achieve his ultimate goals of absolute presidential power and the rejection of the constitutional system that distributes power among the various state agencies.
Last Saturday, Trump announced his intention to raise a temporary customs tariff from 10% to 15% on American imports from all countries, which is the maximum permitted by law, the day after a Supreme Court ruling was issued that deemed it to have exceeded his constitutional powers.
