The office of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture in Rabigh Governorate, represented by the Fish Wealth Department, intensified its control and field inspection tours on the fishing port in the governorate, as part of its continuous efforts to ensure the commitment of fishermen to regulations and instructions, and to reduce violations of the fishing system, especially with regard to seasonal ban periods.
In a parallel environmental initiative, the office implemented this morning, a afforestation campaign at the Al -Qudaymah Center of the Governorate.
The deputy director of the ministry’s office in Rabigh, Hossam Al -Jarib, explained that the current supervisory rounds focus in particular on following up the application of the decision to ban the fishing of Najla and Al -Raradi fish in the waters of the Red Sea, which began its validity from the first of April and continues until the thirty -first of May 2025 “corresponding to 3 Shawwal to 4 Dhu al -Hijjah 1446 AH”, for a period of two months.
Al -Jarib added that this period comes within the seasonal plan to protect these types of attrition, noting that during the tours, the fishermen and the sea visitors are aware of the importance of adhering to the permissible regular means, alerting the risks of overfishing and its negative impact on the marine environment.

He stressed that the goal is to protect live water resources, maintain the sustainability of fish stocks, and enhance food security.
On the other hand, and within its endeavors to improve the urban scene and increase environmental awareness, the office carried out a initiative today to afforestation of the Al -Qudaymah Center building. With the participation of actors from the employees of the office and the center, and under the supervision and direction of the director of the office, Mr. Rada bin Abadel Al -Qarzi and his deputy Hossam Al -Jarib, 70 varied seedlings were planted in the vicinity of the building.
This afforestation initiative falls within a broader plan for the office targeting the government centers and buildings of the governorate, as well as an extension of the afforestation campaign led by the Ministry’s branch in Makkah Al -Mukarramah region, and in line with the national campaign of the Ministry aimed at increasing the green area and the development of vegetation, and stimulating societal participation in environmental voluntary work, in a way that contributes to achieving the targets of life quality and sustainable environmental development.
