Resuming trips between the UAE and Syria reduces ticket prices to 40%

Managers in travel agencies and airlines expected that the resumption of direct flights between the UAE and Syria will significantly reduce the prices of airline tickets during the coming period, and with rates of up to 40%, with an increase in the seat capacity, and the raising of operation by various airlines.

They mentioned to «Emirates Today» that the prices of tickets for the current flights to Syria are among the most expensive in the region in light of the great pressure on the seat capacity, explaining that the gradual balance between supply and demand is a key key in reducing prices, pointing out that the entry of more than one air carrier will contribute to creating a competitive environment that serves the consumer, and pushes towards improving the level of service and lowering prices.

Decrease

In detail, the CEO of STS said in the Dubai Link Group, Salah Mansour, that the prices of airline tickets will decrease gradually with the resumption of flights between the UAE and Syria, and the operation of air tankers for a greater number of regular flights, adding: “With the Emirati tankers entering the market, we expect levels of greater price decline.”

He continued that «ticket prices for air flights from and to Syria are among the most expensive in the region, compared to the duration of the actual trip that does not exceed three hours», explaining that prices often are comparable or exceeding the prices of long trips that reach eight hours or more.

Salah pointed out that in the past, the options were limited to travelers, as the prices of flights to Syria reached record levels, adding: “We expect that with a sufficient seat capacity to operate more than one air carrier during the coming period, the low prices ranging between 30 and 40%.”

He said that the demand for flights from and to Syria is high, and it exceeds the supply by a very large percentage, noting that with the operation of flights to other airports in Syria, the demand and supply will reach a balanced level, and the prices will be logical in the usual days, away from the known peak times.

View and demand

For his part, the Director General of Al -Faisal Agency for Travel and Tourism, Yassin Diab, said that the resumption of direct flights between the Emirates and Syria will have a significant impact on the decline in the prices of flight tickets for air flights, indicating that with the availability of a larger seat capacity, a kind of balance will occur between supply and demand, which will contribute to reducing prices compared to their current levels for indirect flights to Syria.

Diab added: “It is expected that the (Al -Sham Wings) and (Syrian Airways) will start their flights during the coming period, and later we may witness Emirati airlines,” noting that the operation of regular daily flights to more than one carrier will add a significant capacity to the market, and stressed that the gradual balance between supply and demand is a key key in lowering prices. Diab said that air travel will be fast and more comfortable for travelers, compared to “transit” trips that take longer, noting that the flights will contribute to supporting trade and transporting goods and goods as well.

He explained that the average price of airline tickets to Syria reaches about 3500 dirhams, while the prices are expected to decrease by 30%, and later there may be greater increases with the calm demand, adding that during the first period of operating trips, prices may remain in relatively high levels, given the expected high demand.

A competitive environment

In turn, the general manager of Al -Awadi Travel Company, Amin Al -Awadi, said that the return of direct flights between the Emirates and Syria is a big step towards reducing tickets, noting that the demand for travel between the Emirates and Syria is high, and the resumption of trips will provide more diverse and flexible options for travelers.

Al -Awadi added: “We expect that more than one air carrier on this line will contribute to creating a competitive environment that serves the consumer, and pushes towards improving the level of service and reducing prices.” He pointed out that the market was suffering from pressure in the seat capacity, which led to a significant increase in prices, and the resumption of trips will reduce this pressure significantly.

Meet the request

In the context, the regional director of the “Wings of Al -Sham” company, Irfan Sirwan, said that the operation of more flights between the Emirates and Syria will contribute to meeting the increasing demand for travel, which facilitates travelers to travel, due to the high supply of seats on flights in the market.

Sirwan added: “In the past, we were occupying more than a daily trip to the UAE for various airports, and we expect that the rate of flights will be similar to the previous tables in the event of resuming operation in the first stage,” noting that the market may witness the entry of more companies, and thus the pace of trips depends on the available demand.
