The educational expert, Dr. Amr Abdel Hamid, said that despite the increasing recognition of the importance of skills, there are real challenges that may hinder their integration in the school field, most notably “the dominance of the exam culture that reduces the student’s evaluation in numbers and degrees, and neglects personal and skill aspects.”
He added that “the pressure of the curricula and the density of daily shares left a small space for the application of interactive activities that develop these skills.”
He pointed out that many teachers lack adequate training in the strategies of teaching life skills, in addition to poor coordination and integration between the school, the family and the local community, which weakens the effectiveness of any educational initiative related to this aspect.
