Amr Salama explains the fact that the series “Prestige” from a foreign work

The series revolves around a café, where a number of people are held due to a sudden air storm, which prevents them from leaving. With the interruption of the outside world, the atmosphere turns upside down after finding a mysterious body; For a series of doubts and tension between the characters, especially with the extinguishing of the lights at the moment of the crime.
With the start of the series’s promo, some social media activists have been accused of working makers by quoting the idea from a foreign series.

But the director of the series, Amr Salama, responded in press statements, saying: It is usually, some social media activists, during the past ten years, have included accusations of most of the works of theft, before they watched the work, and to judge it.
Salama explained that the most comments, which reach the extent of the similarity of what people saw in the teaser promo of the series, with other works. But the Egyptian director confirmed that the series “Prestige” is not inspired by any other work, indicating that during the preparation of the work, one of the people told them that there is a Spanish film that may be similar to his idea with the series, and after the research he and the work team confirmed that there is no intersection between the two ideas, and he said: “I do not occupy myself with these accusations, and the one if he focused, I will not do any product in the world. In the end, I will leave the ruling to the public after watching the full work. ”
The series “His Hour and History 2”, which was shown in February 2025, and met with a wide interaction, was the last work of Amr Salama, where the series belongs to the category of suspense and excitement, and deals with real criminal cases, which took place inside the Egyptian courts recently, and dive into the motives of crimes, and its psychological and social complexities.
The Egyptian director had revealed that he had thought about retiring the profession, after the completion of filming the series “Taya”, starring: Saba Mubarak, Amr Youssef, and Amr Abdel -Jalil, and the year 2018, for the death of three influential people in his life during the preparation period for the series.
Salama said: He suffered a psychological shock after the death of his friend, the executive director Robert Talaat, during the filming, adding that until now he has not seen the work; Because it brings him back sad memories.
On the details of Talaat’s death, Salama explained that he died while talking together on the phone, as he was talking to him while he was in the hospital, then the nurse took the phone from him, and informed Salama of his death.
And Salama indicated that he decided to travel to Korea 12 days to think about his life, as his father died before the series was shown, and was followed by Dr. Ahmed Khaled Tawfiq, who considered him as his spiritual father, followed by the director Talaat, describing that period as the most difficult in his life.
