المملكة: Pictures | The success of environmental efforts brings back wild plants to the northern border
The northern border region is one of the largest pastoral areas with a variety of terrain, which gives it a natural richness that makes it a fertile environment for the growth of wild plants, which in turn contribute to maintaining environmental balance and preserving the components of nature.
The return of wild plants
The head of the Environmental Association Nasser Al -Mujallad stressed that the region is full of multiple types of wild plants with various uses, noting that the enactment of environmental laws and laws by the competent authorities helped significantly reduce encroachments on the vegetation, and contributed to encouraging the local community to take care of these plants and raise awareness of their environmental importance.

On the other hand, the region abounds with a rich vegetable diversity that is an important part of the environmental identity of the region, and contributes to the formation of its natural components. Among the most prominent of these plants is the “drought” plant, which bears the scientific name (Sonchus), and is classified as wild plants that flourish in open natural environments, especially after rain, which gives more beauty and diversity to the local vegetation.

Natural scene
A number of specialists explained that the “drought” belongs to the astrologery family, and includes multiple types between ethnic and perennial, and is characterized by its existing legs and finely serrated leaves that may carry soft thorns, while its bright yellow flowers open in the heads of the legs in the form of floral pools similar to dandelion flowers, which gives the natural scene a beauty Remarking.
This plant often grows in non -cultivated lands and open pastures, and is one of the vital indicators that indicate soil health and balance of the ecosystem in the region.
The emergence of wild plants such as “drought” reflects the natural richness and biological diversity that distinguishes the environment in the Kingdom in light of the increasing interest in strengthening vegetation and activating national environmental initiatives, within the targets of the Kingdom’s 2030 vision towards sustainable environmental development and preservation of biological diversity
