The start of the Arab Poetry Forum in South Sudan

Juba, August 4 / WAM / Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, the Republic of South Sudan witnessed the launch of the fourth edition of the Arab Poetry Forum under the slogan “Excellence and Creativity, Leadership and Opinion” organized by the Department of Cultural Affairs in the Culture Department in Sharjah in cooperation with the “Union of Southern Sudan Muslim Scholars” in the framework of the initiative of Arabic poetry forums in Africa that aims to spread Arabic and expand the horizon of poetry Al -Faseeh and enhancing his presence among his creators.

The South Sudan Forum is a new station in the series of Arab Poetry Meetings, which roams a number of African countries, including: Chad, Guinea, Senegal, Nigeria, Niger, Mali and Ivory Coast, and is preparing to continue its career in other countries during the coming period, as an affirmation of its targeted cultural mission and its open vision on the diversity of the creative scene in the continent.

The Arab Poetry Forum in South Sudan, which was held in the capital, witnessed a remarkable official and cultural presence, among them: His Excellency Muhyiddin Salem, representative of the League of Arab States in South Sudan, Sheikh Abdullah Burj Rawwal, Secretary -General of the Islamic Council, Sheikh Hamidin Shakerin bin Lawal Al -Awali, Mufti of South Sudan, Dr. Muhammad Qai Lukwaj, President of the Union of Muslim Scholars of South Sudan, General Coordinator of the Forum and Sheikh Dr. Himself and from the academic center, Professor Paul Deng, Professor of Arabic Language at Juba University, was attended in addition to a number of Arab diplomats and those interested in the Arabic language, including poets, intellectuals and academics.

In his speech, Muhammad Qai stressed the importance of the cultural care that the Emirate of Sharjah, led by His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and its pivotal role in supporting the Arabic language and enhancing its presence in the African continent, indicating that this forum is one of the fruits of that enlightened vision that believes that culture is a bridge and an effective tool in consolidating societal peace and promoting identity, noting the growing role of the initiative of Arabic poetry in the initiative Africa, which has become vital platforms that embrace creativity and open horizons for young poets to communicate their voices in the Dad language.

For his part, Ramhi Al -Din Salem expressed his great appreciation for the Sharjah initiative to embrace the Arabic language in the heart of the continent, considering that this type of forum contributes to building bridges of cultural rapprochement between peoples and enhances Arab presence in Africa from the portal of creativity and knowledge.

Sheikh Dr. Abdullah Burj Rawwal said that the Arabic language is not just a means of communication, but rather is a loyal civil and spiritual values, praising the role that Sharjah represented in supporting the Arab culture that establishes these values in African societies of broad religious and cultural diversity.
