The UAE launches a global dialogue with young people on sustainable development at the United Nations in New York

The General Secretariat of the National Committee for Sustainable Development Goals, during its participation in the state delegation to the “UN Forum on Sustainable Development 2025”, organized by the United Nations Economic and Social Affairs Department at its headquarters in New York City, organized a youth session entitled “Voices for 2045: Young people make the future”, with the participation of a group of youth and change makers from different countries of the world and members of the main group for children and youth delegated by the United Nations General Assembly To empower young people.

The session, which was held in the permanent mission of the UAE to the United Nations, targeted the participation of young people in the perception of the future after 2030, and enabling them to draw the features of the future of sustainable development, through the foresight of their aspirations and ideas on the vision of the sustainable development goals of 2045, which represents a new global approach to comprehensive and sustainable development and was launched for the first time within the World Summit for Governments in general 2023.

The session also aims to motivate the makers of change from young people to meditate on their experiences, communicate with others, and inspire ideas that contribute to making a more sustainable and comprehensive future.

Abdullah Nasser Lootah, Assistant Minister of Cabinet Affairs for Competitiveness and Knowledge Exchange, and Chairman of the National Committee for Sustainable Development Goals, stressed that the United Arab Emirates is committed to building a more comprehensive and sustainable world by 2045, by adopting a pre -emptive approach based on smart anticipation and strategic planning.

He said that the UAE secures a firm belief that young people are not just beneficiaries of development paths, but rather are essential partners in its formulation and leadership towards the future, explaining that the session embodies this approach by providing a real platform that enables young people to express their visions, challenges and aspirations in all transparency and effectiveness.

Lootah added that the formulation of the perception of the sustainable development agenda after 2030 requires an open dialogue, collective participation and bold ideas that keep pace with global changes, and therefore motivating young people and enabling them to be a pivotal part of this path is the guarantee to find a more comprehensive, fair and sustainable future for future generations.

The session witnessed 40 participants from the members of the main group for children and youth delegated from the United Nations General Assembly, and included various views on the vision of the extended sustainable development goals (Xdgs 2045Ambiguity, and a purposeful dialogue on the reality of youth, their aspirations, and their active role in development.

Discussions centered on 3 main axes, sympathy, passion, and work, which highlights the role of future generations in making a better future.

The session adopted an interactive approach that allowed members to answer three main questions related to the main axes, through an electronic questionnaire, during which various interventions were collected on their personal motives, and the most prominent future transformations they are looking to achieve, in addition to the challenges that hinder their contributions to sustainable development and proposed solutions to enhance their role.

Participants in the session stressed the importance of empowering young people and providing opportunities for them to participate actively in formulating future policies and strategies, stressing the need to enhance international cooperation and innovation, ensure everyone reaching education and health care, and preserving the environment and nature as the right of future generations.

The “Voices for 2045: Young people make the future” session reflects the established UAE’s commitment to support global efforts to achieve the goals of sustainable development, and to enhance the role of youth as basic partners in the development process and the future industry and build a more comprehensive and sustainable world by 2045.

The high -level political forum on sustainable development represents the main platform of the United Nations in sustainable development issues, as since its establishment in 2012, it has a pivotal role in following up and reviewing what has been implemented at the level of states in the 2030 -year development agenda.

The participating delegations are taking place in the forum, in an assessment of the sustainable development goals with in -depth reviews of five main goals: 3 goal to ensure a healthy life and enhance the well -being of all in different age groups, the 5 goal to achieve equality and empower women and girls, and the 8th goal to enhance continuous, comprehensive and sustainable economic growth and empower productive workers and provide decent work for all, the 14th goal to maintain the oceans, seas and maritime resources And its use in a sustainable manner, and the 17th goal to enhance and revitalize global partnerships to achieve sustainable development goals.
