The Secretary -General emphasized that the treatment of fever that the Earth’s security suffers from is possible by expediting the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, and increasing the speed of adaptation (with climate change), to “protect ourselves – and nature – from climate disasters.”

He stressed that what is from the party will lose on the path of recovery, as renewed energy is less expensive, safer and health protection than alternative fossil fuels, and working to adapt “It is very important to create strong economies and safer societies, currently and in the future.”

Mr. Guterres said the current year “It is the year of decisiveness,” It has become obligatory for all countries to develop new national climate action plans that are in line with the inventory of the planet’s high temperature in the range of 1.5 ° C – “which is necessary to avoid the worst climate disaster.”

And he said in his message: “This is a vital opportunity to benefit from the benefits of clean energy, I urge all countries to seize it, provided that the group of twenty march leads this road. We also need to take measures to confront pollution, reduce the loss of biological diversity, and provide the funding that countries need to protect our planet.”

It is noteworthy that the Secretary -General will be held in conjunction with Brazilian President Luis Inacio Lula da Silva, a closed virtual meeting this week for a group of heads of state and governments, to discuss strengthening global efforts to address the climate crisis and accelerate a just energy transition.

This is part of the joint strategy of the two leaders, as a prelude to the United Nations Climate Conference (COB-30), which will be held in Brazil in November.
