المملكة: Cope 16 .. The Kingdom is leading the efforts of 197 countries in combating land deterioration

The Kingdom is leading the efforts of 197 countries through its presidency of the Sixteenth Conference of the United Nations Convention on the Combating Coastification “COP 16”, to mobilize international efforts, and to enhance the role of financial institutions and the global private sector in combating land degradation, desertification and drought.
This comes through her participation in the World Sustainable Solutions Forum 2025 AD, held in Paris from April 24 to 26.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture for the Environment, head of the participating delegation at the International Forum for Sustainable Solutions, 2025 AD, Dr. Osama Faqihah, explained that the Kingdom is working to enhance partnership with the global private sector.
In order to achieve the Business for Land Initiative (B4L), which was launched by the Kingdom during the “Cup 16” in Riyadh.

This comes within the Kingdom’s efforts to enhance international cooperation to counter drought challenges, land degradation, combating desertification, expanding the scope of ground -based solutions, and stimulating sustainable investments in land recovery.

Global environmental issues

The “Cope 16” presidency, through its active participation in the Paris Forum, confirms its commitment to its leadership role in global environmental issues, and its continuous endeavor to build effective partnerships that contribute to facing the environmental and humanitarian challenges facing the world.

It participates in a pavilion that highlights the efforts of the COP16 conference, and the definition of a number of initiatives, most notably the Riyadh World Drought Initiative, the Riyadh agenda to work, and the Green Middle East initiative.
The team also participated in several discussion sessions and workshops aimed at highlighting innovative solutions in land management, adapting to the effects of drought, in addition to highlighting the Kingdom’s environmental efforts and local and international initiatives.
