Under the patronage of Mansour bin Zayed, the 2025 emerging technology governance summit is launched in Abu Dhabi

Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the State, Deputy Prime Minister and head of the Presidency Bureau, the Council of Advanced Technology Research and the Public Prosecution of the Emirates announced the launch of the first session of the Summit of Governance of Emerging Technologies.

The summit, which will start during the period from 5 to 6 May next, is a leading international platform that combines the most prominent decision makers and experts in law and technology, representatives of governments, the private sector and society, with the aim of developing the frameworks of moral and legislative governance for advanced technologies, led by artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and web 3 technologies, in a way that contributes to the establishment of the UAE’s position as a driving force for future legislation. A regional and international center for responsible innovation.

This summit comes at a time when the world is witnessing an unprecedented shift due to the speed of the development of technologies, and the legal, moral and operational challenges that impose it that require cross -border cooperation.

The summit is held with the participation of more than 500 prominent figures from different countries of the world, including representatives of governments, government legislators, international experts from specialized organizations, representatives of international technology companies and pioneers, universities, and research centers, in addition to the judicial and organizational authorities.

The summit also witnesses the launch of a number of joint initiatives between regulatory authorities, multilateral organizations, and academic institutions, with the aim of developing advanced legal references that take into account the speed of the development of technologies and keep pace with the needs of the future.
It is expected that the outcomes of the summit will contribute to supporting the national efforts of the UAE towards building a flexible knowledge economy based on advanced technology, employing artificial intelligence to ensure a balance between innovation and legal protection, and to provide a global model for responsible digital governance.

It is worth noting that the emerging technology governance summit is a leading international forum organized by the Technology Research Council in cooperation with the Federal Public Prosecution, and aims to enhance multilateral cooperation in developing digital governance, by combining governments, the private sector, academic society, and civil society institutions, to formulate responsible and sustainable policies that govern the future of emerging technologies.
