Austria’s inflation rate rises slightly in April

Vienna on May 4 / WAM / The inflation rate in Austria recorded a slight increase during the month of April, and reached 3.1% compared to 2.9% in the previous March.

The Austrian Statistics Authority attributed the reason for the main increase to the price of comprehensive holidays significantly compared to an annual basis.

The initial estimates of the Statistics Authority showed that prices increased in April by 0.2%, compared to a monthly basis, noting that the prices of servants, which increased by 4.8%, remained the strongest engine of the inflation rate.

The authority explained that the costs of living have become higher due to the high prices of food and tobacco rate, which exceeded the average and reached 3.2%, pointing to the impact of the inhibited energy prices, which increased slightly 0.7%, with the exception of the electricity prices that recorded an increase.

Tobias Thomas, Director General of the Authority, explained that the prices of low fuel significantly in the past month, largely compensated for the negative effects of the high prices of electricity, noting the high prices of industrial goods by 0.9% on an annual basis.
