Establishing tension .. Trump does not rule out the use of military force to include Greenland
The tension between the United States and Denmark escalates after Trump was repeated to express his desire to include the island rich in resources and minerals.
The US President stressed Washington’s need to control Greenland for security reasons, refusing to exclude the idea of using force to include it.
Trump and Greenland
“I think we need this for international peace, and if we do not possess it, this will pose a major threat to our world, so I think Greenland is very important to international peace,” Trump said last Thursday during a joint press conference with Prime Minister Norwegian Gar Store.
US Vice President Jay de Vans visited Greenland in March, which Copenhagen considered it provocative, and while inspecting the American Bitofic military base, Vans criticized Denmark because it “did not do a good job towards the people of Greenland.”
“You have invested less than in the people of Greenland and are less than that in the security structure of this amazing beautiful land,” he said at a press conference.
Danish Foreign Minister
At that time, the Danish Foreign Minister Lars Look Rasmussen then responded to social media, saying, “We are open to criticism, but allow me to be completely sincere, we do not appreciate the tone that is used.”
“The United States will not get Greenland,” Nielsen stressed, adding that “we do not belong to anyone else,” stressing in a post on Facebook, “We decide our future.”
Opinion polls indicate that the vast majority of Greenland’s 57,000 people want to be independent of Denmark, but they do not want to become part of the United States.
