المملكة: Supporting breeders and enhancing food security .. The conclusion of the activities of the first cattle festival

The activities of the First Al -Anam Festival in the Central Al -Anam Market in Jeddah Governorate, which lasted for four days, were concluded with the organization of the branch of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture in Makkah Al -Mukarramah Region, represented by the Markets and Slaughterhouse Department.
The festival witnessed a wide participation of governmental and private bodies, and a remarkable presence of livestock breeders and those interested in the sector from various regions of the Kingdom, which reflects the importance of the event for this vital sector.
The festival organization came within the framework of the Ministry’s continuous endeavor to enhance the food security system and develop the livestock sector, with the aim of raising its contribution to the gross domestic product and achieving the targets of the Kingdom’s 2030 vision.

Acting partnership

The festival focused on strengthening the active partnership between the public and private sectors, and spreading awareness of best practices in health education for cattle and sustainable production among educators and interested people.
The various festival activities included organizing specialized scientific workshops and seminars, in addition to live competitions and performances.
The workshops dealt with pivotal topics that included the importance of applying biological security in cattle and cattle, developing feed dicks, the basics of genetic improvement of strains, and methods of combating common diseases.

Offers and competitions

Days of the festival were allocated for the performances and competitions of selected and distinctive breeds of cattle, such as the freedom of the leper, the leper goats, the stallion and the bishop, as well as offers for authentic Arab horses and some types of rare birds.
The closing day of the festival witnessed the establishment of a special forum for horses, where the participants discussed the most prominent challenges facing the horse breeding sector in the Kingdom and ways to support and develop it in cooperation with the competent authorities, in a move aimed at enhancing the sustainability of this important economic and cultural resource.

Exchange of experiences

Engineer Jamaan Al -Zahrani, Director of Markets and Missiles Department at the Ministry’s branch in Makkah Al -Mukarramah Region, confirmed that the festival has successfully achieved its goals of supporting educators, facilitating the exchange of experiences and knowledge between them, and enhancing awareness of the importance of sound education and sustainable production.
Engineer Al -Zahrani pointed out that the success achieved by this first version pushes towards studying the organization of the festival periodically in the future, to be a continuous platform for serving and developing this vital sector in the Kingdom.
