The UAE strongly condemns the targeting of vital civilian facilities in Port Sudan and Kasla in Sudan

Abu Dhabi, May 5/ WAM/ The UAE has condemned and strongly condemned the targeting of vital civilian facilities and infrastructure in the Port Sudan and Kasla regions, which is a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed the established position of the UAE and calling for an immediate end of fire, protecting civilians, facilities and civil infrastructure, and finding a peaceful solution to the conflict.

The Ministry called on all parties – which continue to ignore the tremendous suffering that the Sudanese people endure – to respect their obligations under international humanitarian law and in accordance with the Jeddah Declaration and the mechanisms of the platform “Allied to Promote the Rescue of Life and Peace in Sudan – ALPS.

The Ministry stressed the need to take urgent steps to protect civilians, and to facilitate the introduction of humanitarian aid urgently and all available means and without any obstacles, and not to allow any parties to the conflict to politicize humanitarian aid and use them as a weapon.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also reaffirmed the established commitment of the UAE to support the efforts aimed at addressing this catastrophic humanitarian crisis, and to work alongside regional and international partners to restore stability and peace for the brotherly Sudanese people.
