Saeed Al Tayer and Austrian Minister of Economy and Energy discuss joint cooperation

Dubai, May 5 / WAM / His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director, CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, received His Excellency Wolfgang Hatmandorf, Minister of Economy, Energy and Austrian Federal Tourism, and His Excellency Etienine Berchtold, Austrian Ambassador to the State.
The meeting was attended by the authority, Eng. Walid bin Salman, Executive Vice -President of the Business and Excellence Development Sector, Dr. Youssef Al -Akraf, CEO of the President for the Business and Human Resources Support Sector, and Eng. Marwan bin Haider, CEO of the President for the Innovation and Future Sector.
The talks centered on the authority’s efforts to support global partnerships in the areas of sustainability, renewable energy and climate work, in line with the vision of the United Arab Emirates to lead the shift towards the green economy.
The discussions also focused on enhancing joint cooperation to accelerate the shift towards green energy, address climate challenges, and exchange best practices in environmental sustainability.
The two sides emphasized the pivotal role of technology and the exchange of knowledge in pushing innovative solutions to global environmental challenges.
His Excellency Al -Tayer highlighted the Dubai strategic goals in the field of clean energy, in line with the Emirates Climate Neutral Strategy 2050, Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050, and the carbon neutrality strategy 2050 for the Emirate of Dubai, which aims to provide 100% of the emirate’s energy from clean sources by 2050.
He pointed to the pivotal role of the authority in achieving these goals through pioneering projects such as the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Energy Complex, the largest solar energy complex in one location in the world, with a production capacity that will reach 7,260 MW by 2030, using two solar panel technology and concentrated solar energy, which will reduce carbon emissions by about 8 million tons annually.
His Excellency Al -Tayer touched on the employment of the Authority for the latest replacement technologies for the fourth industrial revolution to consolidate the leading global position of the United Arab Emirates and the Emirate of Dubai in investing artificial intelligence technologies.
His Excellency Al -Tayer also reviewed the “sail” building, the new headquarters of the authority, which is a sustainable architectural masterpiece classified as the highest, largest and smartest government positive energy building in the world.
His Excellency Wolfgang Hatmansdorver stressed the strong capabilities of future cooperation between the Republic of Austria and the United Arab Emirates, especially in the field of renewable energy.
He pointed out that both countries are prepared by the international pioneers in this field, stressing the importance of converting this strength to joint projects, as well as highlighting the great importance of the UAE as a major strategic partner for Austria, especially in the energy sector, where concrete cooperation will be implemented.
