Saudi aviation grows rapidly and leads the transformation in the Middle East

Karen, First Vice President of Operations, Safety and Security in the International Air Transport Federation (IATA), praised the great development in the aviation sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, stressing that the Kingdom’s growth in this sector is a global model for transformation and ambition paid with a clear vision under the umbrella of Saudi Vision 2030.

Karen said: “It is my first visit to the Kingdom, and I am astonished by the rapid change and the tremendous ambition led by the Saudi aviation industry. This sector is not only moving forward, but it starts at an amazing speed,” Karen said.

Karen pointed out that the aviation sector’s contribution amounted to 90.6 billion dollars, equivalent to 8.5% of the gross domestic product, supporting 1.4 million jobs within the Kingdom, which confirms the deep impact of this sector on economic development.

Vision 2030 places flying at the forefront of the economic transformation

He praised the Saudi leadership, which put the aviation industry at the heart of its development strategy, referring to major projects such as Riyadh Air and the expansion of airports and digital structure, as it is pivotal steps in building a global flight center.

Karen stressed that global air travel will grow by 3.3% annually during the next two decades, but the Middle East will excel by 4.8%, stressing that Saudi Arabia will be at the forefront of this regional movement.

The permit dealt with several challenges facing the aviation industry in the countries of the region, such as: geopolitical instability, regulatory retail, and economic disparity, stressing that overcoming it requires collective cooperation and unified regional perspective.

Karen proposed coordination of airspace management, unifying legislation, adopting sustainable fuel, and technology exchange, as major steps to achieve integration, enhance the sustainability and growth of the aviation sector in the Middle East.
