India and Pakistan – the United Nations calls for the utmost military restraint

The Secretary -General Guterres said on Monday that the tensions between India and Pakistan have reached its highest levels in years. He stressed the necessity of exercising the utmost restraint “and avoiding the military confrontation, which may easily be out of control.” He said: “Now is the time to exercise the utmost restraint and stay away from the brink of the abyss.”

The Secretary -General of the United Nations stressed that the military solution is not a solution. He offered the Indian and Pakistani governments to make his good endeavors to serve peace. He said that the United Nations stands ready to support any initiative that enhances the reduction of escalation, diplomacy, and the renewal of peace commitment.
