المملكة: Launching the first Saudi guide for artificial intelligence applications for students with disabilities

Imam Abd al -Rahman bin Faisal University launched a leading initiative at the Kingdom level, which was the issuance of the first Saudi guide for the tools and applications of artificial intelligence friendly to persons with disabilities, in a move that reflects its deep commitment to the concepts of educational justice, and activating the national systems regarding the rights of people with disabilities in education and digital empowerment.
The President of Imam Abdul Rahman bin Faisal University said a. D. Fahad Al -Harbi that this initiative comes based on the system of rights with disabilities, issued by Royal Decree No. 27 on 11/2/1445 AH, which represents a comprehensive legal framework for ensuring the basic rights of persons with disabilities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Educational services

Article 8 of the system has confirmed the right of persons with disabilities to obtain supportive educational and training services, at all stages, within appropriate educational environments that ensure equal opportunities and positive discrimination that takes into account their own needs.
This trend reflects the commitment of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to implement relevant international covenants, develop national policies and practices supporting this category, and providing specialized educational tools that contribute to achieving inclusion and digital fairness.
The Vice President of the University for Academic Affairs, Dr. Abdullah Al -Muhaidib, also indicated that the guide to the tools and applications of artificial intelligence friendly to students with disabilities comes within the activation of the latest findings of artificial intelligence techniques to serve educational and human goals.
It also reflects the university’s keenness to create an advanced digital environment, taking into account the individual differences.

Strategic orientation

The Dean of the Deanship of E -Education, Dr. Munira Al -Muhashir, indicated that this project comes within the strategic direction of the university towards comprehensive and sustainable digital education.
The first evidence of its kind at the level of Saudi universities is, including a comprehensive set of smart applications designed to support learning and academic interaction of various slices of students with disabilities.
These applications have been classified according to the type of disability, in a manner that guarantees the technology suitability for the needs of each category. These tools contribute to enhancing self -education opportunities, improving digital interaction, providing supportive means that reduce academic barriers, and give students more independence in the educational process.

Human diversity

The university explained that this initiative comes at a time when global education is witnessing a qualitative shift towards digitization and relying on artificial intelligence techniques, which makes this guide an important reference not only for students with disabilities, but for educational and educational institutions that seek to design curricula and learning techniques that take into account human diversity and special needs.
