The United Nations: A sharp rise in demolition and displacement in the West Bank and the continuation of settlers’ violence

In his latest update on the situation in the West Bank, the office said that it documented the demolition of 73 buildings owned by Palestinians, including 24 buildings who were submitted as humanitarian aid, between April 29 and May 5.

All buildings, with the exception of one building, were in area (C) and demolished the Israeli authorities, while one family was forced to demolish their home in East Jerusalem. These demolitions resulted in the displacement of 20 families of 104 Palestinians, including 58 children, and affected the livelihoods of at least 90 people.

On May 5, the Israeli authorities carried out a mass demolition process in the Khalat al -Daba ‘pastoral gathering in Hebron Governorate, where 39 buildings were demolished, including 19 buildings in advance as humanitarian aid, which represents 85% of the assembly buildings. The office said that 50 people were displaced as a result, half of them were children, and that the assembly may be left without water or electricity.

Al -Usha reported that the Israeli forces also demolished at least six residential buildings in Nour Shams Refugee camp, which are among the 106 buildings in the Tulkarm and Nour Shams camps to be demolished according to Israeli military orders issued at the beginning of the month.

In the Jordan Valley, the office stated that the gatherings are still suffering from a severe water shortage due to the scarcity of rain water, and that the settlers’ attacks and demolition policies pursued by the Israeli authorities in region (C) exacerbated the situation. The UCA Office said that nearly one in five buildings were demolished in the Jordan Valley so far in 2025 were water and sanitation.

Since the beginning of the year, the UCA reported that 581 buildings were demolished in the area (C) in the West Bank on the pretext of not obtaining permits, which resulted in the displacement of more than 600 people, including more than 220 children, while 65 buildings were demolished in East Jerusalem, which resulted in the displacement of more than 180 people, including more than 90 children.

Regarding the security situation, the Humanitarian Coordination Office stated that the Israeli forces killed two Palestinians and wounded at least 57 others, including six children, in the West Bank during the period between 29 April and May 5. In addition, a Palestinian died from the West Bank during his detention to Israel “In mysterious circumstances.”

Settler

During the same period, the Humanitarian Coordination Office documented 13 incidents related to the settlers, which resulted in the injury of four Palestinians, the displacement of two families of six individuals and the destruction of property, vehicles and agricultural lands.

In light of the escalation of Israeli settlers and the extensive increase in the expansion of Israeli settlements and the establishment of settlement outposts, the office documented during the past three weeks five cases that included kidnapping and detention of Palestinians by Israeli settlers in the provinces of Nablus, Ramallah and Hebron.

On April 20, for example, a group of Israeli settlers chased children in the village of Beit Furik carrying knives and stones, and kidnapped a 13 -year -old girl and her three -year -old brother, who were found by their parents after a quarter of an hour linked to a tree inside the village.

It is worth noting that the urgent call for the year 2025 for the occupied Palestinian land may receive only about 15 % of the required financing of $ 4.07 billion, of which 12 % are for the West Bank.
