Trump announces a historic trade agreement with the United Kingdom

On Thursday, US President Donald Trump revealed a trade agreement with Britain, which represents the first breakthrough in the customs war that shook the world.
Trump said in a telephone conversation from the Oval Office with British Prime Minister Kiir Starmer, that the agreement would be the first of Step’s agreements with other countries.

Mutual benefit

The agreement will reduce customs duties on steel and British cars, but the 10% of the 10% tax on British goods will remain.

On the other hand, Britain will open its markets to beef and American farms products, despite consumer concerns about its quality.
“I declared enthusiastically that we have reached a historic trade agreement with the United Kingdom,” Trump said at the White House.

Increase in opening markets

He added: “The agreement includes an increase in opening markets to billions of dollars in US exports, especially in the field of agriculture.”
Starmer said that this day was “a truly amazing historical day,” noting that it coincided with the eighties of the “victory day” of the allies, including Britain and the United States, against Nazi Germany in World War II.
The commercial agreement reduces customs duties on British car exports from 27.5 to 10%.
The two sides said that there will be more negotiations on a more comprehensive agreement, but Trump denied exaggerating the importance of the agreement.
