Build a common future

The head of the National Media Bureau said that since the early beginnings of the march of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, a firm conviction has been crystallized by the founding leaders that what brings together the people of the Gulf exceeds the limits of geography, as it is a fundamental link that stems from the unity of roots and identity, and the intertwining of fate, and from this deep understanding the idea of the council arose, as a translation of a collective will aimed at building a common future based on the unity of the class and integration between the brothers.

He stressed, during his speech, that the UAE believes that the media is a major partner in the development process, a lifeline of awareness, and a soft power to formulate the present and build the future, and from this standpoint, the UAE puts the strengthening of media cooperation with the countries of the Cooperation Council at the top of its priorities, believing that our media integration is the guarantor of a unified Gulf voice, capable of protecting our gains, expressing our identity, and facing challenges with a balanced and responsible speech that reflects Our reality and the aspirations of our peoples.

He stressed that the content industry reflects our Gulf privacy, and expresses the originality of our societies, a strategic necessity, calling for working to build a media speech that narrates our narration, highlights our rich diversity, and instills in the hearts of our generations the feelings of belonging and pride, in a way that enhances the immunity of our societies against attempts to distort.

He urged the necessity of providing a definition for those who deserve to take a media title, saying: In light of the boom of digital media and the flow of platforms and easy access to publishing tools, the media is no longer a monopoly on professionals, but every person has become a potential media project, he can broadcast what he wants through various social media, this radical transformation requires us, as officials, to redefine who is the media, not in the form of form Free expression and professional media.

The head of the National Media Office pointed out that in the midst of this digital expansion, the unethical abuses that distort the recipient’s awareness must be combated, and the media message is devoted to its noble values. With other than this distinction, the truth is lost and interests are mixed, and the media message loses its ability to serve the issues of peoples and preserve their knowledge and cultural security.

Setting standard standards for media content
He added that in this context, the UAE proposes to set unified standards for media content in the countries of the Cooperation Council, which are binding on global communication platforms to ensure the compatibility of all the contents published in the GCC countries with the Gulf values and identity, and prevent the spread of what contradicts them.

He touched on the revolution of the rapid technologies witnessed by the world, pointing out that the media future is no longer governed by the camera and the pen alone, but rather is conditional on the ability to adapt to the revolution of artificial intelligence, transformations of digital content, and change the behavior of the public, stressing that the Gulf states possess the resources and competencies that qualify them for leadership in the digital media, smart, and globally influential.

At the end of his speech, His Excellency Abdullah Al Hamed directed the invitation to attend the next meeting hosted by the state, saying: “The hearts also gathered in Kuwait’s love, we will meet tomorrow in the emirates of giving, carrying the torch of our unified Gulf media, and welcome to the twenty -ninth session of the media ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries hosted by the United Arab Emirates next year.”
