United Nations: The Israeli plan to completely control Gaza City will lead to more killing and displacement

The office stated, in a press statement: “We see a repetition of the use of the methods and ways of war that led to mass killing, severe injuries, forced displacement, arbitrary arrests, starvation and massive destruction, in previous military operations in northern Gaza and Rafah.”

The United Nations Office for Human Rights said that during the past few days, the Israeli army has attacked several locations in the east and south of Gaza City, especially in the Al -Zaytoun neighborhood.

He stated that hundreds of families were forced to flee, including many children, persons with disabilities and the elderly without any safe place they could go to and under difficult humanitarian conditions, while others remained stuck and completely cut off from food supplies, water and medicine.

The Human Rights Office said: As the occupying force, Israel should not destroy civil property unless such destruction is necessary for military operations. “. He added that the widespread destruction of residential buildings in the east and south of Gaza City does not seem to have occurred due to an urgent military necessity or the requirements of military operations.

The office stated that the collective displacement does not meet the strict requirements dictated by international humanitarian law that allows the evacuation of civilians in specific circumstances only and under strict circumstances.

Given the imminent danger “to commit more serious violations of international humanitarian law,” the office said, the states parties in the Geneva treaties must urgently make the utmost pressure on Israel to immediately stop this process, which “threatens to cause an unprecedented humanitarian crisis” and permanently eliminates the Palestinian presence in the largest urban areas in the Gaza Strip.
