Two peaks for travel in the next two months .. Ticket prices are 35% higher

Officials in travel and tourism agencies working in the local market confirmed that the demand for air travel is witnessing a significant increase, coinciding with two consecutive peaks during the next two months, the first with the Eid al -Adha holiday at the beginning of June, and the second with the start of the school leave at the end of the same month, until the first week of July.

They mentioned to «Emirates Today» that ticket prices have already witnessed large increases in some destinations to about 35%, compared to their usual levels during the normal days, in the event that the reservation is currently, indicating that many trips record high occupancy rates, with the possibility of operating additional flights by airlines to meet the increasing demand.

High levels

In detail, the Director General of Al -Faisal Agency for Travel and Tourism, Yassin Diab, said that “the demand for travel has reached high levels during the current period, driven by seasonal factors related to the Eid al -Adha holiday and the summer vacation, which led to the rise in ticket prices by between 25 and 35% on some regional and international destinations, coinciding with two peaks.”

He indicated that the first climax comes with the advent of the Eid al -Adha holiday at the beginning of next June, while the second is with the start of the school leave at the end of the same month until the first week of July, adding that in addition to the tourist demand to spend holidays on external destinations, a large percentage of the state’s residents visit their families during the summer season with the start of school leave.

Diab stated that “some destinations, such as Damascus, are currently registering the highest rates of ticket prices, given the large demand and limited number of flights,” noting that the increases vary from one point to another, according to the request and the number of flights occupied by the air carriers.

Price up

For his part, the CEO of STS said in the Dubai Link Group, Salah Mansour, that “the great demand for air transport during the peaks contributes to raising the average prices, and we expect that flights will record very high occupancy levels, especially in periods that directly precede the Eid holiday, as well as the beginning of the school leave,” noting that “airlines may resort to operating additional flights to keep pace with the great demand.”

Mansour added that the market is witnessing a “strong return in family travel during the summer, especially to Arab destinations”, pointing out that the increases in the prices of airline tickets ranged between 30 and 35%, compared to their levels on normal days, specifically in days that witness the highest levels of demand.

He explained that the ticket prices for air flights that coincide with the peak periods will rise gradually whenever the travel date approaches, and based on the number of seats sold on the trip, expected that the demand will be at high levels, and thus the matter will be reflected on airline tickets.

Mansour indicated that the high price of airline tickets during holidays and school holidays is linked to a basic element that is the growth growth against a limited supply, indicating that the wave of reservations usually begin weeks or even months before the travel date, which causes airlines to adopt a dynamic pricing policies that depend on the fullness of the seats, so that the prices rise gradually, with the shrinking number of seats available.

The last reservations

In turn, the Director General of Al -Awadi Travel Company, Amin Al -Awadi, stated that the Arab destinations that top the list of demand are represented in Beirut, Cairo and Oman, with the increasing number of travelers wishing to spend holidays there.

Al -Awadi stressed that “the demand is distributed between travel for tourism purposes and family visits,” noting that an increasing percentage of dealers resort to reservations on flexible dates to obtain appropriate prices.

He warned of the large increases in prices when resorting to reservations in the last moments, stressing the importance of early planning for travel, as the perfect option to obtain the best prices and ensure the availability of seats.

He said: “We recommend that travelers determine their destinations, book tickets and reside early, in light of expectations of increasing momentum in the coming weeks.”

Al -Awadi added that the prices are likely to rise with the approaching peak seasons, pointing to the importance of flexibility in the dates of travel, and the choice of trips with less demanding times, to avoid high costs.
