المملكة: Achieving 25% is an increase in the number of examined vehicles .. and 5 centers in the East

The Saudi Authority for Standards, Metrology and Quality confirmed that the number of examination centers in the Kingdom reached 40 centers, after announcing its expansion in granting licenses to practice the activity to a number of private sector companies to increase the percentage of specialized centers in providing periodic technical examination services for vehicles, the number of authorities licensed to practice the activity reached 4 sides.
She added: The Riyadh region topped the centers with 10 centers, then the Makkah Al -Mukarramah region came second with 7 centers, then the eastern region with 5 centers.

Development of the vehicle’s periodic examination system

The Saudi specifications revealed in its latest statistic, that the total vehicles that were examined in the periodic technical examination centers from the beginning of 2025 until the end of April “1,337,690” vehicles are 25% growth from the previous year, in which the number of vehicles reached “1,067.020”.
She pointed to the implementation of an ambitious plan for a comprehensive development of the system of periodic technical examination of vehicles in the Kingdom, through a number of stages and serious steps to involve the private sector in this sector.
She added that she is continuing to develop the experience of beneficiaries for technical examination centers and maintenance and reform centers, in order to find a distinguished experience for the beneficiaries of the services of these centers, and to raise safety and security levels and preserve lives and property.

Requirements for organizing the examination

The authority had confirmed its targeting to reach 113 specialized centers in the regions of the Kingdom, and the Saudi specifications began to implement the tasks and requirements of organizing the periodic technical examination issued by the Council of Ministers with the number «386» and the date of 11/07/1442 AH, and legislation related to the regulation of the progress of the authorities wishing to practice the periodic technical examination and opening the door for progress on 06/25/2022 AD; To enable and enhance the role of the private sector in this activity, to enhance competitiveness and raise the quality of services.

Technical requirements

The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing has adopted new organizational and technical requirements for periodic technical examination facilities for vehicles, with the aim of raising the quality of the service, ensuring safety and compliance with the regulations. The requirements included setting accurate criteria for mobile vehicles, such as an area of ​​not less than 1000 m², and not affecting traffic.
Facilities classified four categories according to their size and the number of examination paths, while obliging them to license from the competent authorities and compliance with the Saudi construction code.
The requirements also include organizing additional activities within facilities, ventilation, lighting, cleaning, and safe operating standards, with the adoption of security control and electronic payment.
The Ministry stressed the provision of a safe work environment through technical requirements that include the design of the facades, the adherence to urban standards, and the provision of appropriate facilities for beneficiaries and workers, including people with disabilities. The existing establishments also granted a one -year corrective deadline to reconcile their conditions.
This step aims to enhance the concept of smart cities, provide flexible and safe services, and achieve a balance between urban growth and the quality of municipal services.
