Bin Selim continued during the closing session: “There are three markets that keep the vitality of the diamond industry at the present time, which are: the United States as the largest market for jewelry trading in retail, then India as it is a global center for cutting and refining diamonds, and the third is the UAE as the largest center for raw diamond trade in the world, where more than 1.06 billion carats have been traded of raw diamonds and polished diamonds during the past five years, which is number We are proud to reveal it. ”

He said: “We need the Kimberly process to remain concentrated and coherent, so that we can all support trade growth, enhance flexibility, and advance development.”

He added: «To this end, I call for a high -level ministerial meeting for the Kimberley process, which includes the producing, trading and consuming countries at the political level, with the aim of setting a road map to move forward in facing the most urgent challenges facing the Kimberley process.

A meeting between the two sessions of the “Kimberly Operation”, which spanned a whole week, included a series of high -level discussions, and concluded with an exceptional public session, held for the second time only in the date of the 22 -year Kimberley operation.

One of the most prominent stations of the meeting was the launch of the “Verifico” platform that was developed under the chairmanship of the UAE, with the aim of enhancing the security and tracking of the “Kimberley” certificates, and the platform will be available to all the participants in the process, within the framework of the UAE’s broader efforts to update the digital structure of the “Kimberly Operation”.

During her special speech on the opening day, the Acting Assistant Undersecretary for the Supervision and Commercial Governance Sector in the Ministry of Economy, Safia Hashem Al -Safi, said: “Diamonds have always been a pivotal element in the march of the growth of our country. From the humble beginnings, Dubai has grown to become the first global center for raw diamond trade, a place that still maintains despite the recent challenges in diamond prices.”
