The UAE participates in the 15th meeting of the Brax countries trade in Brazil

Brazilia, May 23/ WAM/ The UAE, represented by His Excellency Juma Muhammad Al -Kate, the Assistant Undersecretary for International Trade Affairs at the Ministry of Economy, participated in the fifteenth meeting of the BRICS trade ministers, which was held in the Brazilian capital, Brazilia.

His Excellency Al -Kate stressed the UAE’s commitment to enhancing partnerships and exploring new opportunities to enhance trade, investment and cooperation between the BRICS countries.

Members of the Brex Group exchanged views on the most prominent global trade developments, confirming their firm support for a multilateral trading system based on justice and commitment to bases.

The meeting concluded with the adoption of a number of major pivotal documents aimed at enhancing economic cooperation between member states and consolidating the group’s role in global trade governance.

These outputs are an affirmation of the group’s commitment to supporting trade relations towards more integration and enhancing joint economic prosperity.

The meeting also gave the UAE an opportunity to shed light on the durability of bilateral relations with Brazil, the founding member of the Brex Group, where the focus was on the success of the joint initiatives that contributed to expanding cooperation with the largest commercial and investment partner of the Emirates in South America.

The non -oil bilateral trade between the UAE and Brazil achieved remarkable growth in 2024, reaching $ 5.4 billion, an increase of 23% compared to the previous year, and the two countries seek to enhance their cooperation in various sectors, which include energy, infrastructure and technology, to enhance joint development opportunities.

His Excellency Al -Kate said that the commercial partnership within the Brex Group enhances our ability to work together successfully to find effective solutions, and constitutes a clear evidence of the importance of the approach based on pluralism in global trade, noting that the UAE is committed to promoting trade and economic cooperation between the BRICS countries and at the global level.

We look at our role as a bridge linking East, West and South, in a way that contributes to facilitating dialogue and building partnerships that support sustainable economic development and growth, pointing out that the UAE strategic participation within the Brex Group reflects its broader commitment to economic and diplomatic cooperation at the global level

Through its active participation in this dialogue, the UAE establishes its position as a leading economic and diplomatic force, which supports comprehensive development and faces the challenges imposed by a rapidly changed world, and with the state continuing to enhance its partnerships within the Brex group, it remains committed to focusing on strengthening joint initiatives that are consistent with the group’s vision towards a comprehensive achievement and flexibility in the global economy.

The meeting of the Brexes Group’s trade ministers is a prominent annual event held in conjunction with the BRICS summit, and it constitutes a strategic platform to enhance relations between member states, coordinate joint efforts, and push commercial and economic initiatives towards advanced stages.

The Brax group includes in its membership of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa as founding members, and has expanded in recent years to also include Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, to form a prominent economic bloc on the international scene.

The BRICS countries combined represent about 40% of the world’s population, and contribute about 25% of the global GDP, and the UAE joined the group in 2024 in a move that reflects its strategic vision aimed at expanding the horizons of its diplomatic and economic relations with various global markets, in order to enhance its pivotal role in advancing global economic growth and achieving common prosperity.
